Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the north-eastern part of the Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Winters in Spiti is extremely harsh and temperatures sometimes fall to -20 degrees Celsius.
There is an endless thrill of visiting Spiti in winters. The general thought is that Spiti valley is closed in winters but it not so, as you may visit places in the valley like Kaza, Kibber Key Monastry, Dhankar and Tabo in winters and experience the way of living in such cold area. It is accessible from Shimla, as Shimla – Kaza road is open throughout the year.

Itinerary:-
Day 1: Shimla – Kalpa (230 Kms; 8 hrs.)
Shimla to Kalpa at 08:00 am. Enroute you will cover places like, Kufri, Narkanda, Rampur bushar & Recong Peo. Take appropriate breaks on the way and enjoy the beauty as you leave the hustle and bustle of Shimla behind. Dinner and Overnight stay at Kalpa homestay.
Day 2: Kalpa – Nako – Tabo (154 Kms)
Post breakfast, drive on the famous Hindustan – Tibet Highway. Reach Nako and and explore the frozen Nako Lake and Nako village. Post Lunch proceed towards Tabo. Dinner and Overnight stay at Tabo.
Day 3: Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza (Pin valley if Roads allows)
Have an early breakfast and head towards Dhankar. Visit Dhankar Monastery- a magnificent architecture which hangs on a cliff and overlooks the confluence of Spiti and Pin River. Post Lunch drive to Kaza. Dinner and Overnight stay at Kaza.
Day 04: Kaza – Key Monastry – Chicham – Kibber
Post breakfast, drive towards Key Monastery, the oldest monastery in the region. Later visit Chicham Bridge (Asia’s highest Altitude Bridge) and Chicham village. Transfer to Kibber village. Dinner and Overnight stay at Kibber.
Day 05: Kibber – Komic – Hikkim – Langza – Kaza
Visit Komic- one of the highest villages in the world at 4600 meters, Hikkim- the highest post office in the world, and Langza – said to be the most beautiful village in Spiti Valley. Back to Kaza for Overnight stay.
Day 6: Kaza – Kalpa (210 Kms)
After early breakfast we will depart to Kalpa. Full day journey. Dinner and Overnight stay at Kalpa.
Day 07: Kalpa – Shimla (230 Kms)
Post breakfast, depart to Shimla
