The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Spiti Valley is a cold
desert mountain valley located high in the north-eastern part of the Himachal Pradesh. This adventure
takes on hazards such as landslides, melting snow, desert sand and glacial movements. The
mighty Himalayas with its wilderness and barren landscapes will eclipse anything you might have ridden
through before or ever imagined of in your wildest dreams.

Day 01: 4th MAY 2019 – SATURDAY: Reporting at Naggar & Orientation
Arrive Naggar, 20 kms short of Manali on the Kullu – Manali highway by Volvo bus from New
Delhi or Chandigarh by 9 am. Check into your rooms, freshen up, post a hearty breakfast and orientation
we go and test ride our machines! Overnight stay in hotel at Naggar.
Day 02: 5th MAY 2019 – SUNDAY: Naggar to Rampur Bushahr (180 km), stay at Rampur
After breakfast start the ride to Rampur. Enroute we will cross the mighty Jalori Pass (10,000 ft) – Built by the waters of the Satluj, this was the capital of the erstwhile princely state of Bushahr and even today is an important trading center. Rampur also has an old Buddhist temple. Overnight stay in hotel at Rampur.
Day 03 : 6th MAY 2019 – MONDAY: Rampur Bushahr to Sangla via Chitkul (110 km)
Post a big breakfast, we ride to the last village before the Indo-Tibet border, Chitkul. Enroute we shall stop for chai and the ride on towards our lovely campsite in the stunningly beautiful Sangla valley.
Arrive at the camp and enjoy chai and snacks, and end the evening with drinks and bonfire.

Day 04: 7th MAY 2019 – TUESDAY: Sangla to Kalpa (95 km)
Start the ride to Kalpa from Sangla where we shall ride along the Satluj River. Enroute we shall reach Reckong Peo.Reckong Peo is the headquarters of the Kinnaur district. Recknong Peo has a recently built gompa where his Holiness the Dalai Lama conducted a ‘Kalachakra’ ceremony in 1992. The ancient settlement of Kalpa with spectacular views lies just above Reckong Peo. Overnight stay in hotel at Kalpa.
Day 05: 8th MAY 2019 – WEDNESDAY: Kalpa to Kaza (210 km)
Today we ride past the scenic village of Nako – On a side-road bifurcating near Yangthang, the village
of Nako is built around a lake. On its northern side are 4 Buddhists temples with stucco images and
murals. Within the village, two temples house large prayer wheels. Near Nako is a rock where a
footprint-like impression is ascribed to Padmasambhava. This is the base for the trek to Pargail peak
and is en-route to the Thashigang Monastery, where an image is said to grow hair. We arrive at Kaza
by early evening, which is the heart of Spiti Valley. Overnight stay in hotel at Kaza.
Day 06: 9th MAY 2019 – THURSDAY: Local sightseeing in/ around Kaza (75 km)
After a hearty breakfast, set out for local sightseeing, exploring Kaza and the neighboring
attractions. Kaza has the administrative offices for Spiti. The Ki (Kye), Hikkim (Tangyud), Komic and Langja monasteries are accessible from Kaza. Kye Monastery – This labyrinth of rooms and corridors once formed a fort. It houses valuable ‘thanka’ paintings and offers a panoramic view of the area.
Kibber – 11 kms from the Ki monastery used to be the highest permanently inhabited village of the
region connected by a motorable road and has a small Buddhist monastery, which is now known as Komic village. We will also visit the world’s highest post office at Hikkim village, and post a letter back home. Overnight stay in hotel at Kaza
Day 07: 10th MAY 2019 – FRIDAY: Kaza to Tabo via Mudh village/ Pin Valley (125 km)
Start the day’s ride to Tabo where enroute we shall visit Mudh village. Tabo is in arid Spiti where there are thirty monasteries spread over its rugged terrain. Tabo is the largest monastic complex in Spiti and has nine temples, 23 ‘chortens’, a monks chamber and a nuns chamber. The Tabo ‘Chos-hKhor’ or Doctrinal Enclave, was founded in 996 A.D. by the great teacher Rinchensangpo and is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco statues. This has been declared a ‘World Heritage Site’ by UNESCO. In terms of sanctity in Trans-Himalayan Buddhism, this is regarded as next only to the Tholing monastery in Tibet. Day 08 : 11th MAY 2019 – SATURDAY: Tabo to Rampur (240 km)
Start the ride back home, towards Rampur Bushahr riding through the superb roads of Spiti & the
awesome off-roads of Kinnaur districts. It’s going to be one long day on the road!! Overnight stay in hotel at Rampur.
Day 09: 12th MAY 2019 – SUNDAY: Rampur to Naggar (180 km)
Ride back to Naggar, crossing the Jalori Pass once again. Overnight stay in hotel at Naggar
Day 10 : 13th MAY 2019 – MONDAY: Departure to HOME
Relax in the village for the first part of the day and then catch the early evening Volvo
Bus back to New Delhi/ Chandigarh.
